Alexis Cavella can't get off the phone. While her paperwork and post-it notes accumulate in a pile on her desk, the Paramount Homes executive assistant fields one call after another, 12 calls and 30 e-mails today. They come from people of all ages from all over the country yet nearly all of them ask the same questions. "When are we going to start building in Asbury Park, what's the pricing going to be and how can they get on our V.I.P. list for the first phase?" says Ms. Cavella. "The closer we get to the opening, the more information can be provided but for a while, there was very little I could report." While accepting more than 100 of these phone calls and replying to several hundred more e-mails, Cavella began scripting responses to the most frequently asked questions. "A lot of callers insisted they wanted to buy "right now" and if I would only name a price they would send a deposit," says Cavella. " Legally, we couldn't accept deposits then but now I can say we're in the final design phase and were getting very close to the groundbreaking."
And the answers to those frequently asked questions? "We can't confirm the pricing or when construction will start yet," says Cavella, "but anyone who wants to get his or her name on our V.I.P. list can give me a call. "V.I.P. list members will enjoy first choice of the new homes when they are released for sale. In the first phase of Paramount Homes' redevelopment of Asbury Park's North Shore district, the builder plans to release 157 waterfront condominium units in the first of three oceanfront buildings.
